Kevin and Carson...in concert

Clydesdale Folk Club are delighted to welcome for their April concert, the top quality musical duo of Kevin Dempsey and Rosie Carson who, despite being separated by a generation and the Atlantic Ocean, share a passion for traditional music.

Kevin is an accomplished guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. He is an icon of British folk music having played in some memorable line ups, with the likes of Dave Swarbrick and Mary Black. He is renowned for delivering fresh and vibrant arrangements of traditional and contemporary tunes as well as providing  heart felt vocals on a variety of songs.

Rosie enrolled at the Riley School of Irish Music in Cincinnati at age 8 and went on to study fiddle with Seamus Connelly, Liz Carroll, Liz Kane, and Oisin Mac Diarmada. She has won national competitions for both fiddle and voice, which took her to Ireland for world competitions and led to further studies in singing with Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh. She has performed with The Chieftains and, on visits to the UK, has had the privilege of playing with (besides Kevin, of course) Dave Swarbrick, Peter Knight, Chris Leslie, Simon Nicol, Dave Pegg, and others. Rosie’s playing combines lyricism with dexterity and her voice is captivatingly beautiful.

The support spot will be filled by the very talented singer / guitarist George Martin from Hamilton. George's mellow interpretation of some classic songs will be the ideal starter for the concert, so don't be late.

This great evening of music will be in The Elphinstone Hotel in Biggar on Thursday 26th April and will start at 8.00pm.

Entry costing £10 (£8 members) can be paid at the door.
