Daniel Thorpe - fiddle (Inverurie)
Daniel has been brought up with traditional music and was involved with many groups including the Garioch Fiddlers. He studied traditional music in Plockton before graduating with honours from the RSAMD. He is now performing with ceilidh band 'Heuch' and Canterach with whom he has performed all over Europe. He has been involved in many collaborations and has been chose by AIYF to represent them at the International Festival for Emerging Artists.(handsupfortrad)

BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2010 Finalists Announced.

Hands Up for Trad have announced the finalists of the 2010 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award. Six musicians were chosen from a field of twelve; pictured below, on the 3rd October, in Coulter Hall.

Andrew Gibb bids for Young Traditional Musician Award - Gazette

A young accordionist from Biggar has won a place in the semi finals of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award for 2010.
Andrew Gibb (16) is one of the 12 musicians playing everything from pipes to harp, who will be competing for a place in the final.
The semi-final concert takes place in Coulter Hall, Coulter, on Saturday, October 3.

The BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award is 10 years old this year and again we have a great lineup of young musicians for the semi-finals. From pipes and song to fiddle, accordion and harp we’ve got an excellent night of music ahead on Saturday 3rd October in South Lanarkshire.
